With the introduction of high-end direct-down LED backlight, the technology of reducing power consumption has reached a higher level. With the emergence of high-power LED and the improvement of efficiency, the power consumption of direct-down type is constantly decreasing. There is another breakthrough technology of direct-down LED backlight, localdimming (area control), also known as dynamic backlight technology, which greatly reduces the power consumption of backlight and improves the contrast of TV products. However, it requires a large number of LED, large thickness of TV products, poor aesthetics and flexibility. The large-size side LED backlight technology introduced in the later stage combines the advantages of ultra-thin, beautiful and low power consumption. It is expected that the localdimming technology can greatly reduce the power consumption of the backlight in the large size side light LED backlight. Direct-down LED dynamic backlight is combined with image processing. In dark places, LED reduces current or voltage, which requires relatively high technical requirements for driving circuit, but greatly reduces the power consumption of backlight. The side-entry LED backlight achieves regional control through LED cross control, which reduces power consumption to a certain extent. The side-entry LED large-size backlight combines various advantages. If a breakthrough is made in localdimming, it will be another improvement of the technology.
